ISO 9001 Certification related to Quality Management System (QMS). ISO stands for International Organization for Standardization. It is the International Standard, explains requirements for Quality Management Systems, Which defines as an official system for achieving quality policies and objectives, procedures to get projects done, documentation systems or processes. An organization needs to deliver high-quality products and services in to sustain itself in the market. QMS helps any organization to achieve its goals and improve efficiency and effectiveness on a regular basis.
It is called a Certification Body, A Registrar is called, accredited by ANSI– ASQ National Accreditation Board (ANAB) to strictly audit the quality management system of the company. ISO 9001 Certification is the most recognized and implemented quality management system standard in the world. For developing their functions and systems an organization takes help of ISO 9001 Certification, where all requirements for quality management system are specified. An inspection done by an official Registrar is an ongoing process.
To get ISO 9001 Certification, A Company needs to first implement a system to certain standards of ISO. The team members of a company, who are engaged in this project need to know and understand the requirements of a particular system to implement it. They can acquire the knowledge to implement it through seminars, consultant or any other outsource agency. The step-wise procedure to get ISO 9001 certification is mentioned below:
A Company should evaluate various ISO Certification providers or institutions, and check whether the institution is accredited or not or meeting the requirements of an accreditation body.
The next step is to approach a certified body or a Registrar by placing an order in the form of agreement. This agreement will define the rights and obligations of both parties and includes confidential terms and conditions.
Then they will visit the company on a decided particular date, audit (check all the processes of product manufacturing/ Services, procedures as per ISO Manuals, systems, check the quality of products/services, etc). By reviewing the documents the ISO auditor will find out the possible gaps against the requirements made by the ISO standards.
When all the gaps or mistakes have been fixed pointed by ISO Auditor, The ISO Auditor again audit the changes made by the company and will find out the non-compliances exist in the process. The company members work on the non-compliances very attentively and get the desired result as per the quality standard.
Then the final audit will be done by the auditor, and he will check whether all the non-compliances has been removed by the company or not. Once the auditor gets satisfied with the result, he or she will make the final audit report.
After all, non-compliances are addressed, the authorization body will grant the ISO 9001 Certification to the company.
Surveillance Audit is conducted each year and the ISO certificate will be renewed once every three years to ensure that the ISO quality standards are being maintained by the organization.
